Our client sits at the forefront of public education reform as a leading public charter schools operator and an important catalyst for education reform across the country. This non-profit organization works directly with school districts to transform failing high schools and middle schools into small groups of successful schools, with an aim to help the district reinvent them into the most successful districts in the country.

They are seeking a Dean of Students to support the school administrative team in establishing discipline protocols and maintaining a safe and civil school. This is a full-time role.

Responsibilities:

- Implement school wide discipline system

- Coordinate school detention, in-school suspension and Saturday School program

- Lead professional development around discipline and safety issues for the whole staff

- Facilitate parent conferences

- Supervise before, during, after school, including lunch periods, and other school events

- Lead the school-based Safe and Civil team, Emergency team and Discipline Review Board

- Manage external security teams as-needed

- Conduct community outreach for student intervention services

- Participate in instructional leadership opportunities as needed

Qualifications

- 5+ years of teaching experience

- California clear single-subject or multiple subject teaching credential

- Valid Administrative Credential or comparable out of state credential which is transferable to California

- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to work independently

- Excellent interpersonal communication and written skills 

- Experience in an urban school setting; ideally within a large and/or challenging district

- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable

- Experience implementing policies and systems that rely on a variety of stakeholders to buy-in

- Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution

- Demonstrated passion for improving urban schools and driving education reform
